The Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC) is currently accepting proposals for both oral and poster presentations by undergraduate students participating in research activities at UBCV and UBCO. The Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC) is a one-day celebration of undergraduate research at UBC. This is an excellent opportunity for students to present to an interested audience of fellow undergraduate researchers. The conference is supported by the UBC Provost and Vice President, Research & International Offices, and is managed by the Vice President, Students Office.
The top presenters from this year’s Conference will be invited to submit papers for possible publication in the conference proceedings. They may also be asked to compete to represent UBC at the U21 Undergraduate Research Conference this July at Waseda University in Japan.
The deadline for proposal submission is Sunday, February 26th, 2012 at 11:59pm. Prior to submitting proposals, students are strongly encouraged to attend one of the workshops on proposal writing, offered by Arts Studies in Research and Writing (see the workshop schedule on the MURC website). Students who are working with a faculty supervisor should get permission to present.
More information for both research supervisors and student presenters can be found at www.murc.ubc.ca.
*** Note from Bateson: These conferences are fun and COGS students have traditionally done very well, winning at least one poster or paper award every time our students have participated. Last year, Nick Fitzgerald (now at UW Comp Sci) was sent to the international undergrad conference in Australia, which he enjoyed thoroughly … so … SUBMIT YOUR RESEARCH!!
